2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol is a substituted aliphatic alcohol and is used majorly as a pH balancer in cosmetic formulations.[1] It has phototoxic effect as it can interact and penetrate above the sebum layer. However,
it is not carcinogenic.[2]
